Health Fair at Harrison College

HSFB - Harrison College Health Fair

Eat the correct foods and take plenty of exercise - that was the message handed to the students of Harrison College by staff of the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados at a Mini-Health Fair at the school on Thursday October 4, 2007. The fair was one of the activities planned by the Foundation as part of Barbados Heart & Stroke Week in recognition of World Heart Day, which fell on September 30, 2007.

The Foundation's personnel reported a keen interest among the students, which was evidenced by a steady stream of boys and girls visiting the display centre for the full duration of the event, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Staff distributed leaflets to the students showing the various programmes provided by the Foundation, for their own use and for their families, and many students took the opportunity to have their blood pressure checked, also to be counselled by staff about the benefits of healthy living and exercise. Several staff members of Harrison College as well as parents also visited the fair and had blood pressure checks.
