Help from Hawthorn

HSFB - Hawthorn Presentation

Young Michael Clarke’s recovery efforts at the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados received a boost recently with a donation of $2,000 from the Women’s Fellowship of Hawthorn Methodist Church, Worthing. The contribution was made to help defray the cost of medication and the physical therapy treatments in the CDP&R programme of the Foundation.

11-year-old Michael suffered a stroke, and the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados came to his assistance, offering its services of monitored exercise and counseling free of charge to the plucky youngster.

In presenting the funds to CEO Adrian Randall at the Foundation’s headquarters recently, President of the group Mrs. Hannah Thomas said that they were gladly facilitating the effort to help him return to his maximum level of fitness. “We expect that Michael’s effervescent spirit and strong determination to overcome this setback will stand him in good stead in all that he sets his heart to do” she said, “and we wish him well in his future endeavours.”

The Hawthorn Women’s Fellowship numbers about 30 and has an active community outreach programme, which includes visits to shut-ins and similar activities. Funds raised through a variety of drives are donated to deserving causes.
