Because we care ...
Living up to their business slogan "Because We Care," Lasco
(Barbados) Limited continues to play a key role in the Heart Foundation of
Barbados' public education and outreach programmes. The company recently became
the first business institution in Barbados to participate in the HFOB's recently
initiated system of Awards and Recognitions. Their significant contribution,
which will cover a 12-month period from June this year, has earned the company
the Platinum Heart Award, and recognition as a leader in heart disease
prevention and control.
Lasco Ltd. has designated that their commitment goes to
assist indigent persons to access the HFOB's Cardiac Disease Prevention and
Rehabilitation Programme.
Managing Director of Lasco Ltd., Cicely ReidSealey, noted
tha t although Lasco has been associated with the HFOB in many ways in the past,
participation in the Awards and Recognitions initiative gives the company the
opportunity to be involved in a really meaningful way with the rehab programme.
"It is a worthwhile venture," she said, "and this is a way for us to give
something back to the society for the excellent support that they have given us.
Business is not only about making a profit; it is about the development of the
people around you, and helping to build a better community."
Mrs. Reid-Sealey continued: "We at Lasco are happy to play
our part in catering to the better health of Barbadians, and in particular to be
able to do something tangible for persons in need."
