HFOB announces Awards initiative
The Heart Foundation of Barbados has initiated a system of Awards and
Recognitions for companies that make significant contributions to the HFOB. The
awards are broken down into categories, based on the value of the contribution,
which will be for a 12-month period.
The top award will be the Diamond Heart Award,
which will be conferred on a company contributing Barbados $50,000.00. The
awardee will be recognized as a visionary in heart disease prevention and
control.
A company contributing $35,000 is given the recognition of
Platinum Heart Award - A leader in heart disease
prevention and control.
The Silver Heart Award - A supporter of
programmes in heart disease prevention and control is given to a company
contributing $25,000, while a company giving $15,000 is conferred the
Bronze Heart Award - A contributor to programmes in
heart disease prevention and control.
Founder President of the Heart Foundation of Barbados, Professor Trevor Hassell noted that all contributions would go towards assisting the work and
projects of the Heart Foundation. He said, "I look forward to business
institutions in Barbados giving their generous support to our goal of preventing
or controlling heart disease in Barbados through public education and outreach
programmes, heart disease prevention and rehabilitation, and training of the
general public and health care providers in emergency cardiac care, including
CPR and First Aid" .
Recognition and returns for donors
Contributors will also receive tangible returns from the HFOB in the form or
publicity and promotion. National announcement of the award will be made; also
recognition will be given on all relevant material published by the HFOB during
the period of the award. This will include the company having its logo along
with the relevant titled recognition placed on two pages of each issue of the
Heart Foundation's quarterly magazine, Heartline. In addition the logo with
titled recognition will be placed on the HFOB online newsletter, which is
distributed monthly throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Further, up to a
Full page, full colour advertisement (depending on the contribution), will be
placed in each edition of Heartline, at no additional cost.
First contributor
Lasco (Barbados) Limited has become the first company to participate in the
initiative. Their contribution has earned them the Platinum Heart Award - a
leader in heart disease prevention and control.
Lasco's commitment has been designated to assist indigent persons to access
the Cardiac Disease Prevention and Rehabilitation Programme over a 12- month
period.
