Good turnout for healthy living seminar

Healthy heart living vitamins, hormones and your health," was the theme of the Heart Foundation of Barbados' Tenth Annual Healthy Lifestyle Seminar for Business and Professional Executives, which was held on Thursday, October 2, 2003 at the Sherbourne Conference Centre.

A large gathering of business executives was in attendance to hear prominent physicians speak on a range of topics related to heart health. Dr. Brian Charles presented the topic "Emergency Cardiac Care in the Workplace" while Dr. Anselm Harris spoke on "Vitamin Supplementation in Preventing Heart Disease: Hype or Hope?"

The topic "Hormones for my Heart? Hormones for my Bones? Hormones at all?" was presented by Dr. Cindy Flower and Dr. Raymond Massay.

Following each session the seminar participants were invited to have interactive round table discussion, and each table was asked to make a short presentation on the topic. Dr. Basil Springer was the facilitator of this area of the proceedings.

President of the Heart Foundation of Barbados, Dru Symmonds SCM, J.P. said that he was extremely pleased by the good turnout. "In today's fast paced world our business leaders are so caught up in their hectic schedules that they often don't pay enough attention to their health. It is good, therefore, that they can meet in a forum such as our lifestyles seminar to be informed; guided by professional thought; and to interact with each other sharing ideas and experiences."
