Fit and healthy at Movement Fest
A piping hot day did not in any way deter a good crowd from
enjoying the many activities at this year’s Movement Fest, which was held at the
Garrison Savannah on April 8.

The Heart & Stroke Foundation of Barbados was among the
large number of related health businesses and NGOs who displayed their products
and services, as well as offered sampling.
A steady stream of patrons took the opportunity to visit the
Heart Foundation’s tent for free blood pressure tests as well as to receive
counseling and tips from staff and volunteers on how to achieve good heart
health and healthy living practices. The Heart Foundation also put on displays
on CPR and first aid during the day.

Exercise and fitness was the order of the day, and the
Fitness Basics Tent and others successfully encouraged several from the audience
to actively participate in exercise and aerobic sessions throughout the day.
Great entertainment came from the Banks Tiger Malt Strong
Man and Strong Woman contests where participants performed a series of strength
and endurance tests for prizes.
The Barbados Road Safety Association, the Barbados Cancer
Society and the Ministry of Health were also among the organizations in
attendance, and a well stocked Food Court kept patrons nourished with healthy
meals and cooling drinks throughout the day.
