Exercise and its benefits
The aim of the sessions is to help you to become more aware and
to empower you to take responsibility for your life.
Dietary Counselling
You are counselled by a certified nutritionist who examines your
five day record of food intake and advises you on any
adjustments you should make.
Exercise
Your exercise is tailored to meet your need so that you do not
have to compete with anyone. Trained staff work out the amount
of exercise you need for a safe and effective workout. You do
not have to worry about whether you are doing too much or too
little.
You are closely monitored before, during and after exercise to
ensure that your heart beat is regular and within the target
heart rate and that your blood pressure remains within an
acceptable range.
Support
We encourage you to ask questions and voice any concerns you may
have.
You will meet other persons with heart disease and stroke who you can learn
from and be reassured by. There is an atmosphere of friendliness
and togetherness that will encourage you.
Who will look after you while you are in the programme?
Persons who serve in the programme include a Medical Director
who is a family physician, Registered Nurses, a clinical
exercise specialist and a nutritionist. However your doctor
remains your medical caregiver.
How do you join the Programme?
In order to join the programme you need a doctors referral
letter. Ask your physician, surgeon or cardiologist to refer you
to the programme.
For a better and healthier lifestyle you must take charge of
your life.
